When you visit surface, you would get a list of locations that could be divided into different types :
subverted locations
available locations
blocked locations (from which you cannot have access)
enemy locations where you cannot go without danger
new available locations (which would add new locations slowy)
Every location would be of a type (monastery, farm, village, castle, port, hunters, etc)
Types could be researched by somekind of minion-class (scout,infiltration)
Subverted location could be maintained by another minion class with an upkeep and resource gain and loss, but subverted locations would slowy loose their non-minion occupants until dying out.
Enemy locations could be attacked by beasts in order to prevent some attacks on the main lair.
